Visual discrimination

Ability to recognize details of images, pictures. It allows children to identify and recognize the likeness and differences of shapes/forms, colors, and positions of objects, people, and printed materials.

How does this dysfunction of visual discrimination look in real-life situations? The child manifests difficulty in making the difference between square and rectangle, matching clothes such as socks, missing small details in books, and discriminating between different letters, especially mirroring letters like b and d that impede learning reading and writing.
